How to Order a Large Canvas Print

A large canvas print is an eye-catching way to show off your favorite pictures. It works great as part of a gallery wall or even on its own as a stand alone piece. You’re bound to get a lot of compliments, whether your friends and family are just looking at the photo or admiring the whole display.

Does water damage canvas?

Before you order your large canvas print, there are a few things to keep in mind. First, you need to make sure your picture is high enough quality. You’ll need to have a digital picture that is 300-400 DPI or higher. The best way to do this is to use a digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) camera, but modern smartphones can also work well in many cases.

You’ll also need to decide what size of canvas you want. You can go as big as 10 feet wide for a truly impressive display, or you can opt for a more traditional 8×10 canvas.

If you’re ordering a gallery-wrapped canvas, choose a 1.5 inch thick stretcher bar. These are the skeleton, literally, of your canvas and they’re what gives it its shape and durability. Make sure they are kiln-dried to prevent warping or cracking, as well.

The next step is to determine the ratio of your photo within its current size. This will help you know how it’ll look when it’s printed on the canvas. You can do this by arranging strips of paper or painter’s tape around the original image.
